About Us

Passing the Torch

Lighthouse Baptist Church has been a beacon in Jamestown and the surrounding areas since its establishment in the summer of 1984. Founding Pastor Donald V. Erickson served tirelessly and faithfully until his home-going in 2017. After his passing, Pastor Erickson's long-time friend and fellow Lighthouse member Gary Buchanan became the interim pastor, filling the gap while leading the church in diligent prayer for and seeking of a new pastor. In the fall of 2022, Pastor Gary Buchanan passed the torch to Lighthouse Baptist Church's current pastor, Ramon Corder.

Our Staff

  • Senior Pastor: Ramon Corder
  • Pastor Emeritus: Gary Buchanan
  • Church Secretaries: Helen Erickson, Amy Potter
  • Teachers: Helen Erickson, Sandy Bromley, Sharon tenPas, Raegan Corder

Doctrinal Statement

  • We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are verbally inspired of God, preserved through the King James Version of 1611, and that they are the Supreme and Final Authority in faith and life.
  • We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, and is both 100% God and 100% man.
  • We believe that man was created in the image of God, then sinned, thus incurring not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.
  • We believe that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and that those who reach moral responsibility become sinners in thought, word, and deed.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.
  • We believe in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, His ascension into Heaven, and His presence there as our Mediator,  High Priest, and Advocate.
  • We believe that all who receive, by faith, the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and become children of God.
  • We believe that the local and visible church is ordained by God with two ordinances to be observed: baptism by immersion for believers, and The Lord's Supper.
  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting, conscious punishment of the lost.
  • We believe in the imminent, pre-millennial return of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
  • We believe that the temporary gifts (such as tongues, healing) were "sign-gifts" until the Scriptures were complete. These gifts ceased at that time.
